Brasov Jazz Festival. Johnny Bota, double-bass, seconds Bela
Kamocsa, and Bega Blues Band is thus born
1984-1988 While still playing with Eugen
Gondi Quartet, Johnny Bota, seconds Bela Kamocsa in most important
jazz festivals in Romania: Sibiu, Brasov, Satu-Mare, Costinesti,
Galati; and concerts ad-hoc, in Bucharest, Constanta, Satu-Mare,
Craiova.
1989 New members join the two, for longer
or shorter time, like Mircea Bunea - guitar, Toni Kuhn - keyboards
and guitar, Sasha Bota - violin, Sashi Vuscan - guitar; Veronica
Luta - singer, Victor Miclaus - electric bass, Liviu Butoi
- reeds, Mirel Butoi - drums, Dinu Simon - percussion
1990 Timisoara Blues (song) on bucharesteer
Grigore Preoteasa Students’ Hall stage, the paramount
hit of the band, to be edited on both band’s albums.
1990 The band plays in Brasov Jazz Festival,
with Swiss sax soloist Claudia Raths.
1991 Johnny Bota Bela Kamocsa baptize the
band Bega Blues Band, for eternity.
1991 Johnny & Kamo , joined by Mirel
Butoi, grow to be the home band of Pod 16, the latter’s
first private jazz club in Romania.
1991 Johnny & Kamo, plus Dan Ionescu,
then best Romanian guitar player, walk on the planks of Debrecen
- Hungary most prestigious East-European festival.
1992 Again in Debrecen, Johnny & Kamo,
with Toni Kuhn - keyboards; gala with Elvin Jones, Charles
Lloyd, Larry Corryell and Niels-Henning Oersted-Pedersen.
1992 BBB in Privas - France music festival,

1993 BBB’s first blues-jazz CD in
Romania, Timisoara Blues, at Studio Recording Soft Sistem
1993 BBB present with an extra-ordinary
concert, in Craiova Philarmonic Orchestra’s Musical
Craiova Festival.
1994 BBB plays in European festivals and
concerets, such as held in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bensheim, Leverkusen,
Augsburg, Schwabish Hall, Crailseim, Konigsberg, Novi Sad.
1995 BBB authors a much appreciated cycle
of tv broadcasts for Timisoara TV post, hosted by Bela Kamocsa.
1996 Kamo & Johnny, later plus others,
implemet jazz on the Black Sea Coast, at Vama Veche.
1996 Kamo & Johnny, Liviu Butoi and
their colleagues in Germany, Puba Hromadka and Paul Weiner,
start the jazz festivals in Brebu-Garana.
1997 BBB plays in Timisoara Jazz Festival
hosted by Bela Kamocsa, with Hungarian guitar player Istvan
Gyarfas, close partner of BBB.
1998 BBB plays in bucharesteer jazz clubs
Green Hours, Indigo, Enache’s Dairy, Back Stage, Big
Mamoo; and figure in popular tv shows like PRO TV’s
Florin Calinescu’s Show and Teo; or Romanian RTV1’s
Magyar TV.
1998 BBB plays as special guest star in
the opening of European Modern Pentathlon Championship in
Kaufbeuren, Germany.
1999 BBB plays a potpourri of ambiental
jazz music in the opening of the French Book Fair in Banatului
Museum-Timisoara.
2000 BBB plays in the opening of 2nd European
Modern Pentathlon Championship in Marktoberdorf, Germany.
2001 Kamo & Johnny stage the first Clinics
Jazz, adjacent to Timisoara Jazz Festival, with famous jazz
tutors, such as Sylvain Beuf, Manuel Rocheman, Stephane Kerecki,
Milos Krstic, Istvan Gyarfas, Gyuri Jesyenski.
2001 BBB plays in the closing of European
Modern Pentathlon Championship in Warendorf- Germany.
2002, July BBB plays in a series of concerts
held in Northern Rennania-Westfalia, Germany.
2002, October BBB cuts a nice figure in
Sibiu Jazz Festival, where they play in a jam session co-starring
Jean Toots Thielemans and his band.
2003, March 8, BBB’s jubilee, an extraordinary
concert," From Gershwin to Sting", at the Romanian
Opera House in Timisoara, with the Banatul Philarmonic Orchestra
directed by Cristian Orosanu; soloists: Alexandra Gutu - cello,
Mirela Zafiri - soprano, Hungarian Istvan Gyarfas - guitar;
Liviu Butoi - sax; Toni Kuhn - piano; Mircea Bunea - guitar,
Mackie - vocal group. First synthetic - opera, symphony, blues,
rock, jazz - concert in Romania, full house cleared long before
concert day.
2003, August BBB in the guitariade in Garana
Jazz Festival: Johnny Bota, Bela Kamocsa, Mircea Bunea, Bujor
Hariga, Horia Crisovan.
2003 BBB plays in the 1st Jimboblues, an
international blues festival held in Jimbolia.
2003, November 16, 2nd "From Gershwin
to Sting" , same success, for 13th Timisoara Blues and
Jazz Festival
2004 BBB plus Istvan Gyarfas, Mircea Bunea
and Mirela Zafiri and Bucharest Radio Big Band, an extraordinary
concert on Bucharest Radio Hall; Best Blues-Jazz Band in Romania
Prize, local equivalent of Grammy; high rating radio and tv
broadcasts, like Taverna and Guaranteed 100% on RTV1 and Andrei
Partos Show.
2004, May 14 2nd Jimboblues, the international
blues festival held in Jimbolia, featuring Isvan Gyarfas -
guitar

Bega Blues Band with István Gyárfás, Mirela Zafiri and Mircea
Bunea, accompanied by the Radio Big Band orchestra take part in an extraordinary concert in Bucharest,
the band is nominated for the best blues-jazz band in Romania.
Also they appear in severral high rating tv and radio-shows as "Taverna" and "Andrei Partos and his guests"
Bega Blues Band is designated, BEST BLUES BAND IN ROMANIA, for which they are awarded with
The Special Diploma of the Ministry of Culture and Romanian Radio Association
2004 they are awarded by the city of Timisoara with EXCELENCE PRIZE.
2005-2007 they organize the BLUES FOR TIMISOARA festival.
2005 extraordinary concert JIMI HENDRIX- SIMPHONIC featuring the FILARMONICA BANATUL orchestra.
2006 they perform in the opening of the concert of EMERSON LAKE and PALMER, and CHRIS FARLOW GROUPat the Gastroblues festival in Paks-Ungaria,
2006 they participate at the Gastroblues Festival in Paks-Ungaria, in opening of Chris Farlowe from Colosseum and of Keith Emerson
2006-2007 they perform in the New Years concert in Piata Operei, Timisoara
2007 aniversary concert BEGA BLUES BAND-25 YEARS
special guest MONY BORDEIANU(the first soloist of PHOENIX)
He played allong the best romanian jazz singers, like Johnny Rãducanu, Garbis Dedeian, Mircea Tiberian, Anca Parghel, Marius Popp, Liviu Butoi, Dan Ionescu, Eugen Gondi, Toni Kühn dar si cu artisti internationali ca Paul Weiner, Puba Hromadka, Puiu Minda , István Gyárfás, Sylvain Beuf, Manuel Rochemann, István Grencsó, Gyula Molnár.
2007 25 years of activity were marked by an extraordinary concert on the 3th of march with special guest Mony Bordeianu, accompanied by the Filarmonic Orchestra of Timisoara.
